Early project consortium came together at the Kocaeli Meeting on 12-13/05/2022 to discuss the preparation process of the higher education curriculum dedicated to the early coding education in preschool teaching through distance learning.
Coding and the acquisition of algorithmic thinking skills in early childhood period mostly happen through play-based learning activities.
The circumstances, hindering children from attending early childhood education settings such as the COVID-19 Pandemic obliged educators to plan their class activities in line with the distance education principles. However, there are numerous challenges that should be solved to engage preschool children in distance learning environments.
EARLY project team members, pursuing to reveal how to apply distance education for preschoolers in the context of early coding education, discussed the items in the agenda in detail and revised the ongoing survey preparation process examining the questions in the survey in order to collect useful data to scaffold the curriculum.
